made with love

from Aberdeenshire to your home

The Shearer, rug maker and knitter

Hi, I am Pam Sutherland, my aim to is to make create beautiful rugs, cruelty free and sustainable. Living in rural Aberdeenshire at the foot of Bennachie. I am involved in the whole process ; tending sheep, shearing, preparing the fleeces and making felted rugs that will enhance any home.

I love working with sheep and their wool, its so tactile and every breed produces a different type of fleece giving lots of variety in colour and feel . I also enjoy knitting which keeps me busy when not making rugs.

If you fancy making your own rug I offer a one to one course where you also learn the art of felted rug making.

PLEASE CHECK OUT SHEARING CRAFTS FACEBOOK PAGE FOR LATEST RUGS

Bespoke Rugs, a great keepsake from a special sheep.

Sooky is a special wee pet sheep, his owners wanted to use his fleece and have something that would be a lovely keepsake. The rug was posted to me and I started created the piece with Sooky’s name added to the backing. It was a pleasure to make this one off rug and I would be delighted to make your own special rug, or even teach you to make one yourself, just get in touch below.

Supporting Farming

Wool is an amazing fibre used to make carpets, clothing even home insulation as well as amazing yarns.

From Field to fireplace

  • Despite being an amazing fibre, the the value of fleeces have dropped, making it more expensive to shear than to sell the wool
  • By buying a cruelty free handmade rug you are helping to support and sustain local farming .

Absolutely love my rug made by Pam, using our favourite Manx Loughton’s fleece. It’s a lovely reminder of Dolly. The skill and finished product are amazing. Recommended.

“This beautiful rug arrived yesterday. It’s really thick and soft to stand on and obviously the pooch loves it! Thank you so much for the beautiful rug and fast delivery!”
